  • New Protein Shake and Increased Daily Protein Intake

I’ve tweaked my protein shake again.  I have decided to increase my daily protein intake significantly to aid in muscle development.  So, in modifying my protein shake I have added a second scoop of protein powder bringing the total whey protein in the drink to over 40 grams.  It of course doesn’t taste as yummy anymore, but it still tastes good.  For those of you that would like my recipe it is as follows:

1 Cup of 1% Organic Milk
1 Table Spoon of Flaxseed Oil
1 Table Spoon of Amino Acids
2 Scoops of Chocolate Whey Protein Powder
    4 Strawberries
    Handful of Blue Berries
    (Optional) A Banana

I have been using the shake post workout in the evenings and in the morning I drink a Myoplex chocolate fudge protein shake.

  • Martial Arts Tournament Saturday

This Saturday in Newark NJ I will be competing in the NAGA tournament.  It is a jujutsu tournament.  A person wins by points or submission (tap out by joint lock or strangulation).  There is no striking in this tournament (though there will be plenty of that when I begin entering mixed martial arts tournaments).  My sensei told me that he will not be able to corner me on Saturday, which sucks, but I will do fine .  I will also be on my own, for some reason no one else in my school decided to compete in this tournament.

  • Why are many people against homosexuals?

I personally have nothing against a person’s sexual orientation/preference being towards their own sex.  However, there are some things that puzzle me.  They have to do with the culture surrounding the homosexual community.  I do not understand why some of the males have feminine voices, adopt odd styles of dress or have certain mannerisms.  I think these characteristics make them stand out in such a way that is looked down upon.  I also do not understand why some of the females dress and style themselves after males.  I would think that such things…especially how they dress are controllable and leaves me wondering why they do it.  All these things make homosexuals stand out and many people are not willing to accept what is different.  I also think there are some homosexuals that try to throw their preference in the face of others which of course will only turn people off

  • All New Equipment at Bally Total Fitness

I was very impressed that the Rockville Centre Bally’s replaced all of their dumbbells and weight plates.  They also added new equipment (machines).  Now the dumbbells go up to 100lbs, however there are gyms that have dumbbells that go way higher and hopefully Bally’s eventually will add those.  They also fixed the second smith machine that had been broken for months.  I am confident that this Bally’s won’t be closing down, not after all the money they just put into it, including redoing the sauna and adding a set of plasma television sets.  I’m curious to see if the Staten Island Bally’s has done the same, but if not, I still have my membership at Planet Fitness there, so no worries

  • Would you ever consider plastic surgery, why or why not?

I wouldn't currently consider plastic surgery.  At the moment I have no complaints about any physical feature I have.  I think I'm a good looking guy and improve myself naturally through physical fitness, sports, and eating healthy.  However, I suppose if I was invovled in a horrible accident that left me disfigured or if I was born with features that seriously impacted my self-image then perhaps I would seriously give it consideration.  Everyone has to determine what is right for them, at the moment, plastic surgery definetly is not something that is right for me.

  • I Met My Biological Father for the First Time

25 years on this planet and I had never met my biological father.  It was an interesting experience.  I was going to my cousin’s Bar Mitzvah celebration on Saturday and I knew my bio-dad would be there, so I made sure I went because I was very curious.  I had no idea what I would feel or what I would say.  When he saw me he ran up to me and said, “let me hug my son” and he hugged me and started to cry and I guess I got all emotionally worked up also about the whole thing I started to cry also.  I was completely shocked that I cried.  I didn’t know it meant that much to me or that I would be so overwhelmed by the whole thing.  We talked a bit, but I really didn’t ask him much, I didn’t want to feel like I was interrogating him.  To fast forward to the end, we exchanged phone numbers and I told him I would call him and we could meet for lunch or dinner one day in January (when I’m between semesters) to catch up.  And as a side note, I do have a step-dad who has been by father basically all my life and no one will ever replace him

  • Weekend Recap

Friday:  So I had one hell of a fun Friday night.  I went out with a bunch of the guys to the city and just had a blast.  We started out at an Outback for dinner and ended bar hoping our way to a college bar right near Columbia University.  I could give details of the events of that night, but I plead the 5th instead ;-P

Saturday:  Went to see the movie “Rendition” staring Reese Witherspoon.  It was a waste of a movie, but something very interesting happened before and after the movie.  When leaving my car there was someones wallet on the floor with about 20 dollars in it.  I brought it to the theater’s lost and found.  When I left the theater we found 20 dollars on the floor.  Is that Karma?  I dunno, but it sure was interesting.

Sunday:  Went to the city and had lunch at Carmines and then saw the show “Mamma Mia” which was fantastic

  • If you could travel through time, what era would you visit and why?

Approximately 9 ½ months before the birth of Jesus.  I would want to determine if there was actually a virgin birth of Jesus.  If there wasn’t then that would invalidate the most influential religion in modern history and if there was, then that is pretty convincing evidence that Jesus was indeed the son of God.  Of course I would then have no problem either skipping ahead 30 years to see his miraculous acts in person or wait out the thirty years if that wasn’t possible.  I’m sure it would be well worth the wait.  If not, back to the 2007 I would go.  I’m surprised that so few people stated this era as their preference.  It is perhaps the most significant event in history whether it occurred or didn’t occur.

  • Vomited My Brains Out at the Gym

lol.  The title of the post pretty much sums it up.  When I’m at the gym I like to push myself really hard.  I do a different body part each day of the week and in between each set I either do cardio (jogging, jump-rope, etc.) or Supersets (extra sets of another body part).  Tonight I decided to superset both Back and Chest with tonight’s workout which was Legs.  When I was on my last few sets I reached the point of no return and took a trip the restroom to relieve myself of dinner, and maybe even lunch.  It was basically 30 minutes of non-stop working out and normally if I feel sick from it I stop working out, but I guess this time I pushed myself a tad bit too much.  The good part though was the workout was fantastic, the vomiting however wasn’t.  I don’t remember the last time I even vomited.  Oh well.

  • Do you think technology breeds isolation?

Yes.  I also think it greatly diminishes social skills.  Statics show that a great number of us spend a significant amount of our FREE time daily sitting in front of computer and television screens.   Even time spent using technology to communicate with others, such as through instant message is more often than not completely superficial, superfluous and a waste of time.  Plato is quoted as saying, “Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.”   My conclusion is that there are a lot of fools online ;-P
